Who I am

My Name is Kooper Hanosky and I started recording music as a guitarist who wanted demos of my ideas. It then evolved into sitting in someone else's studio with my own band and trusting them with something that mattered to me. That experience of wondering whether the person at the computer understood what we were trying to say shaped everything about how I work today.
I'm a musician first. I play guitar full-time in Citizen Soldier and have toured through the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK. I've also had the pleasure of being in the studio with producers like Howard Benson, Mike Plotnikoff, Kile Odell, Neil Sanderson, Joshua Landry, and Randy Slaugh to name a few. I didn't add this to brag but to build context. It means I know what it feels like to be a musician in the studio who also interacts with fans face to face about music that means something to them. I've also watched and learned from some amazing producers over the years.
I've been recording and producing since 2017, working with artists across rock, alternative, metal, indie, and pop. The genre doesn't matter that much to me though as long as the song has emotional substance. If you're serious about what you're making and you want a collaborator who will work for the emotional truth of your songs I want to hear from you.
Philosophy
How I think about creating music
Production should be modern enough to compete and honest enough to last. I want your songs to sound present-day and competative, not because we chased what's trending, but because we figured out exactly what your songs need and committed to that.
Every decision in the studio gets filtered through one question: does it fit the song? Not what's technically impressive. Not what sounds cool in isolation. What serves the emotion you're trying to convey.
The best sessions I've been apart of happen when the band shows up prepared and loose at the same time ready to work hard and be open to new ideas. That's the energy I like to bring, and it's what I'm looking for in the room.
